HEB SUMMER 2009  GROUP CLASSES

The Suzuki Spring Festival was held April 24-25th at L.D.Bell High School (the 2007 Bands of America Grand National Champion).  Noted Suzuki clinicians from all over the state, as well as Art and Music teachers, held group and master classes on Friday and Saturday. 

The festival culminated with a dynamic concert featuring performances by the Elementary Honor Orchestra (directed by Mr. Vincent Pugh), the Spring Festival Orchestra (directed by Ms. Jennifer McHenry), and all 330 Suzuki students in the HEB ISD.

HEB Strings Booster Club President Jolana Hurt was honored for her selfless dedication and hard work on behalf of the Suzuki program over the past 6+ years.

 The Booster Club held a general meeting on April 3rd at Central Junior High.  Both adults and kids enjoyed a riveting performance by the 440 Alliance - a band that features 4 cellos, drums, a keyboard/synthesizer, and a turntable! Their engaging repertoire ranged from classical to pop to rock (with some Nintendo music thrown in!)  Check out this talented group at http://www.the440alliance.com.

Mrs. Amy Tomlinson won the Best Attendance Mum award for Hurst Hills.  Congratulations, Mrs. Tomlinson!

Lucky ticket holders for the evening were awarded door prizes -- musical starter kits for either violin/viola or cello.

There was even a concessions stand filled with coffee/water and scrumptions desserts - brownies, cinnamon rolls, cookies, lemon and butter breads, and a mouth-watering variety of donuts, each for only 50 cents!
